Pederson, Piscotty head into MLB's postseason on Friday

Palo Alto High grad Joc Pederson and former Stanford standout Stephen Piscotty will begin MLB postseason play on Friday when the Los Angeles Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals open their respective NL Divisional Series at home.

Pederson and the Dodgers (92-70) will host the New York Mets at 6:30 p.m. (PT) after Piscotty and the Cardinals (100-61) play host to the NL Wild Card team at 3:30 p.m. (PT).

Pederson wrapped up his first full season in the majors on Sunday by hitting his 26th home run of the season in a 6-3 win over the San Diego Padres. Pederson batted .210 with 101 hits, 67 runs and 54 RBI while starting most of the season in center field.

While Pederson went to the plate 480 times, Piscotty was a late Triple A call up and batted just 233 times. He finished with 71 hits, 29 runs, 39 RBI and batted a solid .305 with seven homers.
