Webb Ranch grass fire quickly extinguished

Local firefighters responded quickly to a small grass fire off Alpine Road on the Webb Ranch just minutes after noon today, Aug. 11, and extinguished the blaze by 12:30, according to the county Office of Emergency Services.

The fire, near Interstate 280, was started by mowers used by Stanford University, an alert from the county said. Fire officials said that about a half-acre of land burned.

I believe this is the second time Stanford has started a fire mowing that area.
