Menlo College track/cross country program adds depth

Menlo College track & field head coach Dan Noel has added a trio of new signees to his squad for 2015-16, as well as announcing current Menlo College student Megan Thompson as a member of the team.

An incoming freshman, Estrella Bautista competed at South East High School in South Gate (Calif.). She was her team's top finisher in the 2013 and 2014 CIF Los Angeles City Prelims and served as the team captain for both track and cross country.

Bautista was named team MVP for cross country in 2014, track in 2015 and was the school's Female Athlete of the Year in 2015. Academically, she earned a place on the High Honor Roll and was a Principal's List Award recipient.

Fellow freshman and Pasadena native Richard Runkle-Eden is also set to join the Oaks in 2015-16. He competed in cross country for four years at Marshall High and was a three-year varsity letterwinner. He earned the team's Most Persistent Runner Award and was the top finisher for the Eagles at the 2014 Mt. SAC Cross Country Invitational.

The third signee is a junior transfer from De Anza College, Antarpree Dhariwal who joins teammate Scott Blomquist as the second De Anza grad set to run for Menlo College this season. She is a graduate of Wilcox High in Santa Clara and twice competed in the Coast Conference Championships while earning the Scholar-Athlete award for track.

"All three of these athletes bring strong leadership qualities, a passion for the sport, and a track record of success in the classroom to Menlo. They exemplify the type of scholar-athletes with whom we intend to build this program," said Noel.

Also set to join the program is current Menlo College student, Megan Thompson, a 2012 graduate of Burlingame High where she ran cross country and track.
