Two of three Palo Alto Babe Ruth baseball teams will be in action on Tuesday night and there will be plenty at stake as their respective NorCal State tournaments wind up.

The Palo Alto 15s will host favored Tri-Valley at Baylands Athletic Center in a battle between the remaining undefeated teams at 8 p.m. A victory will put Palo Alto into Thursday’s championship game.

A loss, however, means Palo Alto will play in the consolation finals on Wednesday at 7 p.m., needing a victory to earn a rematch with Tri-Valley.

In Ukiah, the Palo Alto 13s will play Tri-Valley in the championship game at 5:30 p.m. Should Palo Alto win, a second (challenge) game will follow with the winner advancing to the Regional tournament in Fresno on July 26-Aug. 4.

The Palo Alto 13s advanced to the finals with an 8-2 victory over Vallejo on Monday night. Eric Flores got the pitching win with a complete-game effort.

“We really needed a complete game from Eric, and he delivered,” said Palo Alto manager Bob Budelli.

Budelli also got three hits and two RBI from Paul Thie and two hits plus two RBI from Dante Cacchione. Seven different Palo Alto players scored.

In Woodland, the Palo Alto 14s will be back in action Wednesday after defeating Vallejo on Monday, 4-3, at Clark Field. Palo Alto will face Novato at 5 p.m., with the winner advancing to the consolation finals on Thursday against the loser of Tri-Valley and Woodland.

The championship game will be Friday at 5 p.m., with the winner advancing to the Regional tournament in Riverton, Utah, on July 26-Aug. 4.

Palo Alto had just three hits in the win over Vallejo, but took advantage of five errors by the visiting team. Joshua Kasevich pitched a complete-game six-hitter to get the win while registering 18 first-pitch strikes.

Daniel Heimuli drove in two runs for Palo Alto, which had three players register two walks each.
