Stanford men head to North Carolina for golf regional

The Stanford men's golf team has received the No. 2 seed in the Chapel Hill Regional behind top-seeded Florida State, following Monday's announcement by the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Committee.

The event, hosted by North Carolina, will be contested at Finley Golf Course.

The Cardinal earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Regional Championships after winning last week's Pac-12 Conference title in Pullman, Wash.

Six 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted May 14-16. Thirteen teams and 10 individuals not on those teams will compete at each of three regionals while the other three regionals will have 14 teams and five individuals not on those teams. The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the NCAA Division I Championships.

The finals will span May 29-June 3 at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla. South Florida is the host institution for the 2015 NCAA Championships.
