Menlo College adds two to its softball recruiting class

The Menlo College softball program added two more players to its 2015-16 recruiting class with the addition of twins Megan and Mackenzie Wright.

They will come to Menlo as juniors after a pair of successful seasons at San Diego Mesa Community College, where Megan played as a catcher and Mackenzie played first base.

"I am excited to add Mackenzie and Megan to our team," Menlo coach Michell Vlahos said. "The depth they will give us in the infield next year after we graduate three seniors is both necessary and exciting for us."

Megan has appeared in 26 games as a sophomore catcher in 2015, posting a .316 batting average while driving in six runs and scoring 10. In addition to her on-field success, she earned the San Diego Mesa College Scholar Athlete Award for holding a 3.81 GPA and was an all-league selection as a freshman.

During her prep career at Ramona High School, Megan was named to the Union Tribune San Diego All-Academic Team and graduated Cum Laude with a 3.50 GPA. Her most recent travel teams were the Power Surge 18u and 3rd Degree 18u.

Twin sister Mackenzie has appeared in 19 games as a sophomore first baseman tallying six hits and five RBIs. In her prep career, she too earned a place on the Union Tribune All-Academic team with a 3.50 GPA and graduated Cum Laude. Additionally, she was named a San Diego Mesa Scholar Athlete for posting a 3.81 GPA.

Megan and Mackenzie have played softball on the same team since they were nine years old, a fact that head coach Michell Vlahos is happy to see continue on the Menlo College campus in Atherton.

"I am excited to add the twins into the program and help fulfill their dream of staying together to play at the four-year level."
