One or more shots fired at person on Abelia Way in East Palo Alto

A gunfire detector recorded three to four shots fired late Monday in East Palo Alto with at least one meant to hit a person, police said Tuesday.

One or more suspects fired the shots just before midnight in the 100 block of Abelia Way, East Palo Alto police Sgt. Rod Tuason said.

Responding officers discovered that a woman had been shot at, but bullets did not hit her, Tuason said. Tuason said officers found the person with injuries and thought she had been hit by the gunfire.

Tuason said instead she suffered a head injury that was not related to the shooting, police learned from hospital officials. She is in stable condition with injuries not considered life-threatening, Tuason said.

Tuason said at this time police do not have any suspects in the shooting.
