Bonnie Samuelson named to 3-point shooting contest

Stanford senior forward Bonnie Samuelson has been selected to participate in the 2015 State Farm 3-Point Championship. The event, now in its 27th year, will take place on Thursday at Butler's Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis and be televised live on ESPN starting at 4 p.m.

The State Farm College Slam Dunk and 3-Point Championships invites the top seniors in the country to compete -- eight dunkers and eight men's and eight women's 3-point shooters -- and is held in the host city of the men's Final Four leading into the culmination of that tournament.

With two spots still to be filled for the women's 3-point contest, Samuelson will be joined in Indianapolis by Brittany Hrynko (DePaul), Kelsey Harris (UC Davis), Blake Dietrick (Princeton), Morgan Eye (Missouri) and Melissa Dixon (Iowa).

Samuelson recently concluded her Stanford career as one of the school's greatest 3-point shooters and among the best in Pac-12 history. Her 237 career treys trails only Candice Wiggins (295) and Jeanette Pohlen (268) on The Farm and is also 10th in the league's record books.

A career 39.6 percent 3-point shooter, Samuelson's 43.8 percent clip this season is eighth in the nation. The senior increased her role this season with a move to the stretch-4 and averaged career highs in minutes played (25.8), points (9.6), rebounds (2.8), blocks (15), steals (14), free throws made (69) and attempted (76), 3-point field goal percentage (.438) and 3-point field goals made (81). Her 81 3-point makes are tied for seventh in Stanford single-season history.
