Menlo College signs two for women's volleyball

Menlo College volleyball head coach Atlee (Hubbard) Frechette has announced the two newest members of her squad with the signing of transfers Maiquel McLeish and Kori Paradis. McLeish and Paradis bring the 2015 recruiting class total up to seven student-athletes.

McLeish comes to the Oaks as a transfer from University of Hawaii-Hilo. A 6-foot outside hitter, McLeish is a native of Newport Beach, and played her prep volleyball at Newport Harbor High.

"Maiquel is someone that felt at home at Menlo when she visited campus. She had spent time at two-year colleges and recently a four-year college but needed a place that had the strong community that she found at Menlo. She's a great athlete and I am looking forward to her career as a student-athlete at Menlo," said Frechette.

Joining McLeish is Paradis. A 6-1 outside hitter/setter at Robert Morris University (Pa.) a season ago, Paradis played her prep volleyball at Wood River High in Hailey, Idaho. While in high school, Paradis was a two-year captain and a two-time all-conference performer. At Robert Morris, she was a one-year team captain and was named all-tournament at the USCAA Pittsburgh tournament.

"Kori is a 4.0 student and was looking for a more competitive program and a place where she could thrive in the community atmosphere at Menlo. I am happy that she has chosen to be a part of the Oak family," noted Frechette.

Menlo College Volleyball won its third consecutive California Pacific Conference title in 2014. The Oaks will play their inaugural season as members of the Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) in 2015.

Head coach Eric Bucchere added another piece to his 2015 recruiting class with the signing of junior transfer Luiz Lodino. A native of Bauru, Brazil, Lodino was a youth player at Marillia AC in Sao Paulo and spent the last two seasons at Cowley College in Kansas. While at Cowley, Lodino was a team captain and all-conference performer as a sophomore and started seven games.

"Luiz is a gifted athlete, and will be a real presence in our defense next season," said Bucchere.

Menlo College earned a Cal Pac North Division regular-season title in 2014 and will play its inaugural season as a member of the Golden State Athletic Conference in 2015.
