Correction in ID of driver killed by train in Menlo Park

Woman identified as Jahyun Jennifer Koo of Palo Alto

The Santa Clara County coroner's office has corrected the identification of the woman who was killed when a train struck the SUV she was driving at the Ravenswood Avenue rail crossing in Menlo Park on Monday, Feb. 23.

She is identified as Jahyun Jennifer Koo, 35, of Palo Alto.

In an earlier story, based on information from Caltrain and the San Mateo County Transit Police, the woman's name had been transposed, with her first name given as her last name. Also her city of residence was incorrectly given as East Palo Alto.

I was driving on Charleston going across Alma to Arastradero and there were two cars stopped on the railroad track on the Arastradero side waiting for the light. I was shocked to see that since it has been only two days since this young lady was killed on similar crossing in Menlo Park. What should we call this carelessness or something else.

Our streets and crossings were built in a totally different era when places like Menlo park and Palo Alto were small towns. We are now a metropolitan area with urban traffic. These same roads are expected to continue to serve us in the same way. It will continue to be a growing problem and modifications need to be made.

So that's it? The woman was from East Palo Alto so she doesn't deserve any more comment than that? Was she a wife? A mother? Did she have children? Did she have a job? I'm sure many people loved this woman and she deserves a little more reporting than the fact that she was from EPA.

Shame on you PA Weekly!

@Cactus: Your callous remarks are not funny, they are hurtful and unnecessary. Try being a feeling human, it will make you a better person.

I pray no one is that callous about your death. If not for you, then for anyone who might love you.
