Laurel Donnenwirth, who ranks among the nation's best rebounders, had two strong performances in a week when the Lady Oaks clinched their fourth consecutive conference regular-season title. For her efforts, she is the Cal Pac Player of the Week in women's basketball.
The senior forward produced a 21-point, 15-rebound performance in Menlo's hard-fought road win at Cal Maritime. In more than 37 minutes of play, she went 6 of 11 from the floor -- including a 3-pointer -- and 8 of 9 from the free-throw line to lead her team to the win.
She followed that up with a 13-point, seven-rebound, and five-assist night at Simpson.
Donnenwirth ranks fourth in the NAIA in defensive rebounds per game (7.71), eighth in total rebounds per game (10.54), 19th in total rebounds (253), and 37th in field goal percentage (.485).
Menlo College is now riding a seven-game winning streak and has jumped one spot to No. 13 in the most recent NAIA Coaches' poll released by the national office.
Menlo had previously been ranked 14th in each of the last two polls. Two regular-season games remain before Menlo sets its sights on the conference tournament starting Feb. 28 in Vallejo. The winner of the tournament will advance to the NAIA National Championships in Sioux City, Iowa starting on March 11.
