Stanford grad Nicole Gibbs, a two-time NCAA singles champion, makes her first appearance in the main draw of the Australian Open, which begins Monday.

The 97th-ranked Gibbs will play Australian Olivia Rogwska in the first round. The schedule of play will be announced Sunday. Rogwska, ranked No. 133, is appearing in her seventh Australian Open.

Gibbs, who has been ranked as high as 89th following a third-round appearance in last September’s U.S. Open, has four ITA singles titles on her resume.

She started the year with a loss to Ukraine’s Yuliya Beygelzimer in the first round of qualifying at Auckland in New Zealand.

Stanford grad Bradley Klahn lost to Poland’s Michal Przysiezny, 6-4, 6-4, in the second round of qualifying in Australia. Klahn, currently ranked No. 150, downed Spain’s Enrique-Perez, 6-3, 6-4, in the first round.

Klahn, who has a career-high ranking of 63rd, opened the year by reaching the quarterfinal of the Noumea, New Caledonia tournament.
