There were more than goblins and ghouls haunting last Sunday’s Halloween Trick-or-Treat and Carnival on California Avenue in Palo Alto.

Organized by Blossom Birth Services, a nonprofit resource center for new and expectant parents, the kids’ event featured carnival games, music by Andy Z, arts and crafts and more. Tiny costumed trick-or-treaters made their way door-to-door to receive treats from the business district’s merchants. Contestants vying for the prize of best-dressed Halloweener donned their most creative duds — everything from a strawberry-topped cupcake to a 3-D rendition of the popular mobile game Angry Birds.

Event lead sponsors were the Palo Alto Menlo Park Parents Club and City of Palo Alto; corporate sponsor was Cook Smarts; comunity sponsors were Palo Alto Community Child Care, California Avenue Area Business Association (CAABA), Palo Alto Weekly, ArtSchool SF, and Copy America.

The Tot Play Area was sponsored by Jewish Baby Network; and activity sponsors were Amigos De Palo Alto, Babywearing International, C is for Crafts, Dr. S. Brian Liu/California Dental Home, Palo Alto City Chamber of Commerce, La Bodeguita del Medio,Technology Credit Union Bank Palo Alto, Urban Village Farmers Market Association, UrbanSitter, UMe, and Whole Foods Market Palo Alto.
