Police release image of suspect in tire theft at City Hall garage


Palo Alto police have released a surveillance image of a man who allegedly stole four tires off an SUV in the underground parking garage at City Hall.

The man allegedly removed all four wheels from the silver SUV on Sept. 19 during the afternoon. The Palo Alto Police Department is located in the Civic Center above the parking garage, between Ramona and Bryant streets.

The man in the photograph has a medium build and facial hair who wore a black hat, dark athletic shoes, light-colored slacks and a gray or blue pull-over shirt.

"This was a particularly brazen crime, especially given how frequently our parking-enforcement officers and police personnel are in the garage. We'd like to catch him and arrest him for grand theft," police wrote in a Nixle release to the community.

Anyone with information about the man is asked to call the department's 24-hour dispatch center at 650-329-2413. Anonymous tips can be emailed to or sent by text message or voice mail to 650-383-8984.
