Palo Alto: Street closed off after apparent suicide, police say

Palo Alto police closed off the 200 block of Grant Avenue near the Santa Clara County Courthouse Monday morning after an unidentified man committed suicide on the sidewalk near the courthouse entrance, according to Lt. Zach Perron, Palo Alto police spokesman.

The Sheriff's Office, which responded to the incident, estimates that it happened at about 9:45 a.m.

Grant is closed between Park Boulevard and Birch Street, and is expected to reopen at 1 p.m.

While officers investigated the incident, the courthouse remains open. No additional information is available at this time.
