Ceramic artist honors war veterans

The public is invited to join artist Ehren Tool at the Palo Alto Art Center this Sunday, Sept. 7 from noon to 4 p.m. for the culmination of his month-long artistic residency, Containers of Community. Tool has created hundreds of hand-thrown ceramic cups featuring images and objects collected from Palo Alto area veterans and their families. At this free event, Tool will distribute his creations to veterans and other artists who contributed to the project as a way of honoring their military service and shared experience.

Come at noon for a walk-through with exhibiting artist Dana Harel, and stay for the 3 p.m. panel discussion, where the talk will center on the importance of art in the lives of war veterans and of the wider community. Throughout the event there will be hands-on art making opportunities for all ages.
