Danielle McCarthy and Kayla Cisneroz each scored goals for the Menlo College women’s soccer team Wednesday but the Lady Oaks fell to visiting No. 18 The Master’s College in a nonconference match.

Menlo (1-1) travels to Medford, Ore. to take on Corban University on Friday afternoon in a nonconference match.

McCarthy’s goal gave Menlo a 1-0 advantage in the 14th minute. The score was set up when Brittany Squarcia made up a nice run up the sidelines before sending the ball into the penalty box, where Jocelyn Aguilar redirected it to the open McCarthy.

The Mustangs scored the next two goals but Menlo responded just before halftime when Squarcia’s free kick bounced off the Mustangs’ goalie and right to the waiting feet of Cisneroz, who scored her first of the season and second of her career.

The Master’s College pressured Lady Oaks’ keeper Jasmine Cordova the entire game, outshooting Menlo by a 24-12 margin, forcing Cordova into making 17 saves.

An interview with Cisneroz and Menlo coach Keith Lambert is available here.
