Stanford grads Annika Dries and Melissa Seidemann, along with Cardinal senior Kiley Neushul and junior Maggie Steffens will once again join forces with Sacred Heart Prep grad KK Clark on the United States women's national water polo team at the Kirishi Cup in Russia.
The Americans (12-1 overall) are scheduled to open the tournament Tuesday against Hungary.
The Kirishi Cup acts as a tuneup for the FINA World Cup, which will also be held in Russia beginning Aug. 12.
Team USA beat Italy, 10-8, in the gold medal match of the FINA World League Super Final two weeks ago. Steffens, FINA's World Player of the Year in 2012, scored the clinching goal for the Americans.
Neushul helped Team USA survive a tough first match against Russia, scoring the clinching goal in the second round of shootouts.
"I think the great thing is with our team this year that we have so many different people who could step up in the big moments," Steffens said.
