Palo Alto bar association hosts 'Community Law Night'

Worried about a legal matter or just curious about the fine points of law? The Palo Alto Area Bar Association is holding Community Law Night Thursday, June 26, from 6 to 8 p.m.

The free, one-on-one consultations with local attorneys will cover family, housing, immigration, employment, wills, business, criminal and other types of law. The clinic is designed to provide a public service and is not intended as a substitute for seeking regular legal counsel, according to the association.

The Palo Alto Area Bar Association (PAABA) straddles San Mateo and Santa Clara counties and is a professional association for attorneys from Menlo Park, Atherton, Woodside, Portola Valley, Palo Alto, Los Altos and Mountain View. The association offers a low-cost lawyer-referral service using screened attorneys and mediation services.

The event will take place at the Cubberley Community Center, 4000 Middlefield Road, Room H1, Palo Alto.

The clinic is sponsored by PAABA, the City of Palo Alto and Peet's Coffee and Tea. More information about the bar association can be found at www.paaba.org.

Probably drumming up business for local, underemployed lawyers who work out of their homes.
