Strong wind advisory Sunday night

Thunderstorms to follow throughout the region on Tuesday

Strong winds from the west will affect the entire San Francisco Bay Area Sunday night and thunderstorms are in store on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Monterey.

Tonight the Bay Area should see wind gusts of 20 to 30 miles per hour, rising occasionally to as much as 40 mph in mountain regions, the weather service reported.

The North Bay can expect thunderstorms starting on Monday, with the storms spreading throughout the Bay Area on Tuesday.

The winds could cause small tree branches and debris to fall and lightning from thunderstorms will increase concerns about fire dangers, the weather service said.
