Menlo women stay unbeaten in Cal Pac Conference play

 

Vanessa D'Amico and Laurel Donnenwirth each scored 17 points as the Menlo College women's basketball team remained undefeated in Cal Pac Conference play with a 93-60 victory over visiting Pacific Union on Saturday.

Amber Lane added 13 points for Menlo, which won its seventh straight.

The Lady Oaks (6-0, 17-4) host UC Merced at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in a conference game. Menlo holds a 25-game winning streak against the Cal Pac, including tournament play.

Pacific Union scored the game's first two points. Menlo scored the next 17, with Donnenwirth recording eight of the points.

The Lady Oaks eventually worked their lead to 53-28 by halftime.

Men's basketball

Keith Bowman scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds to help Menlo end a three-game losing streak as the Oaks beat visiting Pacific Union, 80-57, on Saturday night.

Charles Barnes added 16 points, which included a trio of 3-pointers, as five Menlo players reached double figures in the contest.

Dillon Smock and Colin Wan each added 12 points and Dylan Severson had 10. Craig Monroy recorded 13 assists.

Pacific Union was within five points with about 12 minutes remaining to play before the Oaks (3-2, 5-14) broke it open.

Menlo hosts UC Merced on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

B Wrestling ==

Steele Escobedo, Eric Lopez and Scott Brasil picked up wins for Menlo, but it was host Cal Poly that won the match, 29-9, on Saturday.

The Oaks (3-6) travel to Arizona for a meet against Glendale College on Friday.
