SH Prep grad Dahlkemper named a Soccer America MVP

 

Sacred Heart Prep grad Abby Dahlkemper, a junior defender with the NCAA champion UCLA women's soccer team, was named to the Soccer America MVPs first team it was announced Thursday.

Bruins' goalkeeper Katelyn Rowland, who led the nation in goals against average with a 0.27 mark, the second-lowest GAA in UCLA history, joined Dahlkemper on the first team.

Dahlkemper won the Honda Award for soccer, becoming the first-ever winner from UCLA. She was the leader of the Bruin's defensive effort that ranked No. 1 in the nation in team goals against average (0.30), allowing only eight goals all season.

The Bruins had 18 shutouts, including five in six NCAA Tournament games. Dahlkemper was a consensus All-American and is the first defender in 10 years to be selected as a finalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy, which will be announced Friday.

She was also honored as the NSCAA Scholar All-America Player of the Year.
