Northbound Foothill Expressway between Hillview Avenue and Page Mill Road, including the bike lane, will be closed beginning today at 9 p.m. and remain closed until 5 a.m. on Monday, May 20.
This closure accommodates the next phase in PG&E’s installation of a new gas pipeline segment under Matadero Creek, during which they will be backfilling and removing shoring for excavation pits dug under the creek.
“If all goes well, the line is expected to be hydrotested next week and then it will just be a matter of waiting for a ‘tie-in’ date when this segment can be connected up with the its ‘parent’ transmission line and put back into service,” said Utilities Communication Manager Debra Katz.
Until the road reopens at 5 a.m. on Monday, May 20, drivers and bicyclists can take a detour up Hillview Avenue, crossing over to Page Mill Road along Deer Creek Road.
PG&E has been conducting night work (9 p.m. to 5 a.m.) along northbound Junipero Serra Boulevard — also affecting the westbound lane of Page Mill Road — since early May and is expected to continue to do so through June 3.
