Converting fear to confidence

Del Silverman, left, reacts after Menlo School students Brock Cozad, center, and Josh Lauder, right, pull up a photo of her grandchildren, which she was having trouble finding on her computer Friday, Jan. 18.

The teens were part of a group that visited seniors at the Moldaw Residences in Palo Alto to assist with computer-related questions.

"I want to help seniors enrich their lives with technology," said Lauder, who started the volunteer group, which intends to visit Moldaw on a monthly basis.

"I know it has enriched mine. I find that seniors are afraid of trial and error when learning how to use technology, and I want to replace that fear with confidence."
