Art: Teens: 'Girls' Nightmare Out'

Kepler's Books is hosting a teen author event called "Girls' Nightmare Out" at 7 p.m. tonight, Aug. 23, at 1010 El Camino Real in Menlo Park. Authors scheduled to appear are Marta Acosta ("Dark Companion"), Kendare Blake ("Girl of Nightmares") and Lisa Desrochers ("Last Rite"). Go to keplers.com.

Music: Pride & Joy

The pop/soul band Pride & Joy, which has been around for 25 years, plays a free outdoor concert from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, Aug. 24. Part of the city of Redwood City's annual summer series, the show is downtown on Courthouse Square. The weekly series continues through Sept. 28, with rock, pop, reggae, jazz and salsa music.
