Police arrest man for Independence Day stabbing

East Palo Alto man, 30, arrested for stabbing person in neck

Police have arrested a man suspected in a stabbing that left another man seriously injured in East Palo Alto Wednesday night, July 4.

Witnesses flagged down police on University Avenue at around 10 p.m. and told them that a man had been stabbed in the neck, police said. The victim, a 20-year-old East Palo Alto resident, was taken to a hospital to be treated for his injury, according to police. Sgt. Jeff Liu said the victim "is doing alright."

Liu said the two men had been arguing at Bell Street Park when the incident occurred. Witnesses directed police to 30-year-old Roberto Romero, of East Palo Alto, and Romero was arrested.

Anyone with information about the stabbing has been asked to call East Palo Alto police at 650-321-1112.

If witnesses directed police to Roberto Romera, what OTHER information are police requesting?

Perhaps they would like the public to do all the work and convict this guy.

Because Raymond, the police have the responsibility of conducting a thorough investigation that includes identifying any potential witness to the alleged crime. There could be additional witnesses that were no longer present when the police arrived, or, people that could provide valuable information regarding the events that transpired prior to the assault. That's why they're asking.
