Three juveniles arrested for theft in Palo Alto

Police officer witnesses boys steal package from porch on University Avenue

Three boys were arrested in Palo Alto after they were seen stealing a package from a porch in the 800 block of University Avenue near Guinda Street Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 15.

An officer who noticed the boys kept an eye on the trio as they stood in front of a residence. One of the boys was observed entering through a gate and walking on to the porch to take the package, police Sgt. Patty Lum said.

The officer continued to follow the boys while other units were called. Officers arrested the youths a block away between Fulton Street and Middlefield Road, Lum said.

Lum said the contents of the parcel are unknown. She declined to give the boys' ages or their cities of residence, saying the nondisclosure is in keeping with policy regarding juvenile suspects.

The boys were arrested for conspiracy and theft, but additional charges could be pending, since the police report on the incident is preliminary, she said. Two of the boys were released to their parents and one boy was taken to juvenile hall, she said.

I'll bet this group of kids are actually residents of our own Palo Alto, probably from well to do families. The strong stance on not sharing what cit they reside in suspicious. I know I have read plenty of stories about trouble caused by EPA or MV kids in the past.

Conspiracy.

By all means, let's add charges of conspiracy.

In the good old days, a conspiracy was Watergate.

I was walking through cubberly the other day and three youths had a fire extinguisher and were spraying walls, the ground, I think even a car, they got rid of the extinguisher in a nearby school and ran for it. Kids these days up to no good, I wonder if they were possibly the same kids?

Let any man who never did a stupid and/or illegal thing in his teens be the next to comment on this heinous act.

Even if we may have done things that were not smart, that doesn't mean we can't decide that these actions are improper. These juveniles need to be held accountable for their actions.

EPA residents per the Daily. Wonder why PAW won't reveal that.

It just came to our attention this week that a package was delivered to us in January.
The sender contacted us, requesting a response but we never received it.
The delivery co. had documentation showing it had been delivered!
We live on University Ave, and have never had a problem with drop-off deliveries.
We will be more conscientious in the future.

We've had 5-6 package stolen off out porch in the past 6 months, anytime we are expecting a package, we are now extra careful to check for the delivery and bring it inside immediately.

Tish -as far as the kids spraying the fire extinguisher at Cubberly - kids have been making mischief for generations, this one is no worse ( and maybe better since they have less time to just "hang out" with friends).
