Stanford senior Nicole Pechanec earned her first collegiate all-around victory to lead the Cardinal to a 195.925-195.725 women's gymnastics victory over Washington at Burnham Pavilion on Sunday.
Stanford (4-0) trailed 98.075-97.900 after the first two rotations, but rallied on the balance beam. Ashley Morgan's 9.900 and freshman Rebecca Wing's 9.875 helped propel the Cardinal to a 147.000-146.975 lead it would not relinquish.
Pechanec scored 39.250 to set a personal best in only her second all-around competition, edging Lauren Rogers of Washington (1-2).
The meet also marked the collegiate debut of Stanford freshman Ivana Hong, who scored 9.80 on the vault, her only event.
Hong, who has been limited by an ankle injury, was a 2009 World Championship bronze medalist on the beam and won U.S. elite titles on beam and vault that same year.
Wing, a 2008 Olympian from Great Britain , performed well in the vital leadoff spot on three events, scoring 9.9 on the uneven bars and 9.75 on floor exercise, in addition to her beam score.
