Today's events (Dec. 19)

• Art: Ken Edwards

Paintings by Ken Edwards are currently on display in the lobby of the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts at 500 Castro St. A retired firefighter, Edwards describes his abstract works as "nonobjective" and "a combination of shapes, marks, colors, textures and happy accidents." His works can be viewed Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from noon to 1 p.m., and one hour before every public performance at the center; through Feb. 13. Go to mountainview.gov.

• Writing: Memoir class

The Los Altos Library is hosting a free class on memoir-writing, from 2 to 3 p.m. today (Dec. 19). The event is at 13 S. San Antonio Road, Los Altos. Topics will include organization, writing, technology and the search for editors. Go to helpdesk.sccl.org.
