• Dance: 'The Nutcracker'

The Mountain View-based Western Ballet Company opens its production of "The Nutcracker" at 7 p.m. tomorrow (Dec. 2) at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St. Later performances are at 1 and 7 p.m. Dec. 3 and at 1 and 6:30 p.m. Dec. 4. Tickets are $30 general, $27 for seniors and students, and $25 for children ages 12 and under. Call 650-903-6000 or go to mountainview.gov.

• Music: Stanford Symphony Orchestra

Anna Wittstruck will solo with the Stanford Symphony Orchestra in Schumann's Cello Concerto in A Minor in a concert at 8 p.m. tomorrow (Dec. 2). The performance is in Dinkelspiel Auditorium on campus and also features Mahler's Symphony No. 5. Jindong Cai conducts. Tickets are $10 general, $9 for seniors, $5 for non-Stanford students, and free for Stanford students. Call 650-723-2720 or go to events.stanford.edu.
