• Thanksgiving Dessert/Contra Dance

The Bay Area Country Dance Society will hold a beginning dance class, followed by open social dancing, Saturday (Nov. 26) from 7:30-11 p.m. at First Church of Palo Alto, 625 Hamilton Ave., Palo Alto. Admission is $10 ($8 for members; $5 for students). Bring a dessert to share. For more information, visit BACDS.

• Concert: 'I'm Ready for My Closeup!'

The artists of the Franzen Opera Studio will perform rare and famous film music from the golden age of Hollywood Sunday (Nov. 27) at Ladera Community Church, 3300 Alpine Road, Portola Valley. Admission is $10. For more information, visit Franzen Studio.
