• Dance: Merce Cunningham Dance Company

Tomorrow (Nov. 1) at 8 p.m., the Merce Cunningham Dance Company is scheduled to give its last Bay Area performance, in Stanford University's Memorial Auditorium. The company will perform a restaged version of "Nearly 90," the last work choreographed by the company's late founder. A free talk will follow. Admission is $30-$85 general, $10 for Stanford students, and $25-$80 for other students. Go to livelyarts.stanford.edu.

• Author: Adam Gopnik

"Paris to the Moon" author Adam Gopnik will give an author talk at 7 p.m. tomorrow (Nov. 1) on his new book, "The Table Comes First: Family, France and the Meaning of Food." The event is in the Cubberley Community Center theater, 4000 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto. Tickets are $20 general, $12 for Commonwealth Club members and $7 for students. Go to commonwealthclub.org.
