• Music: Halloween concert

The Stanford Symphony Orchestra and Stanford Wind Ensemble perform their annual Halloween concert at 8 p.m. tonight (Oct. 31) in the university's Dinkelspiel Auditorium. The winner of the costume contest gets to guest-conduct the concert finale. The program includes music by Bach, Berlioz and John Williams. Admission is $10 general, free for Stanford students, and $5 for other students. Go to stanford.edu.

• Family: 'Safe Halloween'

The Lytton Gardens senior community hosts its free annual "Safe Halloween" celebration for tots through fifth-graders from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. tonight (Oct. 31) at 656 Lytton Ave. Activities include trick-or-treating, storytelling, face-painting and games. Go to lyttongardens.org.
