Warm temperatures to return later this week

Palo Alto could reach mid-80s on Thursday

Monday's gray skies over the Bay Area are expected to clear up by Tuesday, and warm temperatures are coming back later this week, a National Weather Service forecaster said.

A cold front moved in to the Bay Area Monday, with light showers and mild winds anticipated throughout the region.

In Palo Alto, the chance of rain for Monday night was 50 percent.

Temperatures for Tuesday are likely to be in the mid- to upper 60s.

On Wednesday and Thursday, temperatures are expected to rise. The Weather Service predicts a high of 85 degrees on Thursday in Palo Alto and similar temperatures on the Peninsula.

This weekend, there is a chance of rain, and temperatures are expected to drop.
