Tomorrow's events (Oct. 4)

• Author: Robert Lipsyte

New York Times sports writer Robert Lipsyte will give a talk at 7 p.m. tomorrow (Oct. 4) on his latest book, "The Accidental Sportswriter," and on various famed American athletes. The event is at the Oshman Family Jewish Community Center, 3921 Fabian Way, Palo Alto. Tickets are $15 and $10 for center members at least 24 hours in advance, and $18 at the door. Call 650-223-8605 or go to paloaltojcc.org.

• Art: Decker Walker

As the weather turns fallish, Peninsula painter Decker Walker is showing California landscapes done in other seasons besides the ever-popular summer. His free exhibition is at the Portola Art Gallery in the Allied Arts Guild at 75 Arbor Road in Menlo Park through the end of the month. "A paler sun casts long shadows over bright green newly sprouted grasses, grey overcast shows off the brilliant colors of fall foliage and winter berries, silvery reflections glitter on rainy days," a press release reads. Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more, go to portolaartgallery.com.
