■ A Taste of Palo Alto

A Taste of Palo Alto food festival, featuring food from 15 local restaurants, will be held Saturday (Sept. 17) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in downtown Palo Alto. Tickets are $25 for adults; $15 for kids. The festival is being held in conjunction with the Echelon Gran Fondo bike challenges. For more information, visit Echelon Gran Fondo.

■ 'Plutonomy: Economy (and Government) Of, By and For the Rich

Paul George of Peninsula Peace & Justice Center will examine how the concentration of wealth and power came to be; what it means for a supposedly democratic society and some possible solutions Sunday (Sept. 18) at 11 a.m. at Palo Alto High School - Student Center, 50 Embarcadero Road, Palo Alto.
