■ Community: Moonlight Run

Participants will walk and run through the Palo Alto Baylands tonight (Sept. 9) as part of the 27th Annual Palo Alto Weekly Moonlight Walk & Run. Registration tables open at 6 p.m. at the City of Palo Alto Baylands Athletic Center at Embarcadero and Geng roads. Planned are: a 5K walk starting at 7 p.m., a 10K run at 8:15 p.m., and a 5K run at 8:45 p.m. The event beneficiary is the Palo Alto Weekly Holiday Fund. For details, go to

■ Music: The St. Valentinez

The Bay Area band The St. Valentinez performs a free funk concert tonight (Sept. 9) at 8 p.m. upstairs at Red Rock Coffee, 201 Castro St., Mountain View. Instruments include horns, harmonica, guitars, drums and vocals. Call 650-967-4473 or go to redrockcoffee.org.

■ Kids: Author Judy Schachner

Today (Sept. 9) at 6 p.m., author Judy Schachner leads a "pajama storytime" for kids, reading her book "Skippyjon Jones: Class Action" at Kepler's Books, 1010 El Camino Real, Menlo Park. This is the sixth title in the dog-centric kids' series. Visit keplers.com for more information.
