■ Film: 'Connected'

A screening of the documentary "Connected" is planned for tonight (Sept. 8) at 7 p.m. at the Oshman Family Jewish Community Center, 3921 Fabian Way, Palo Alto. Tiffany Shlain's film looks at the way real and virtual connections affect contemporary issues such as the environment and the global economy. ■ Author: Ying-Ying Chang

Ying-Ying Chang gives an author talk at 7 p.m. tonight (Sept. 8) about her book "The Woman Who Could Not Forget," a memoir about the life of her mother, the late author Iris Chang. The event is at Kepler's Books, 1010 El Camino Real, Menlo Park. Attendees must buy the event book or a $10 gift card to admit two (bookstore members get in free).
