Tonight is 'Addison Night' at AT&T Park

More than 100 students to sing national anthem after winning video audition

Tonight is "Addison School Night" at the Giants game, at least unofficially.

Addison Elementary School students -- about 120 of them -- will perform "The Star-Spangled Banner" at the 7:15 p.m. start of the game against the Houston Astros.

The conductor is Addison parent and choir director Joanna Finnis.

The students practiced the national anthem during lunch hours for weeks last spring before submitting an audition video to the Giants, with the help of parent volunteers.

Hundreds of Addison families and friends will be on hand to cheer on the True Blues.

After being selected, the school was able to reserve a block of tickets through the Giants front office -- and the kids sold 900 of them, raising $900 for the Addison PTA.

"I'm proud of these kids," Principal Jocelyn Garcia-Thorne said.

"They've showed us all the importance of dreaming big and working hard."

The national anthem's melody and harmony are available on the school's website.

I don't get it. Do we have to listen to the melody and harmony separately? Can't we hear it as we heard it on the radio this evening? It was awesome.

Bravo! They sounded great. I was so proud of them. Thank you to their teachers and everyone else who helped to make this possible!

Is there somewhere on line where we can watch/hear the performance? It was not televised! Bummer! Would love to see/hear it.
