■ Theater: 'Sense and Sensibility'

TheatreWorks opens its production of the play version of Jane Austen's "Sense and Sensibility" with 8 p.m. previews tomorrow (Aug. 24) through Aug. 26, and opening night on Aug. 27. Shows are at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts at 500 Castro St., Tuesday through Sunday through Sept. 18. Tickets are $19-$59. Call 650-903-6000 or go to theatreworks.org.

■ Art: Sculpture and oils

A new exhibition at Palo Alto's Gallery House artists' cooperative features whimsical clay, bronze and glass sculptures by Lidija Tkalcevic and plein-air oil paintings painted "alla prima" (all in one session) by Krishna Kopell.
