■ Film: 'Music Box'

A free showing of the 1989 Jessica Lange film "Music Box," about a lawyer defending her father against war-crimes charges, is planned for tonight (Aug. 8) at 7 p.m. in Stanford's Annenberg Auditorium. The screening is part of Stanford Summer Theater's annual theater and film series. Jasmina Bojic, founder and executive director of the Stanford-based United Nations Association Film Festival, will lead a discussion afterward. Go to stanford.edu.

■ Music: Joe Cohen

Jazz saxophonist Joe Cohen plays a free show tonight (Aug. 8) from 6 to 8 p.m. on Main Street in downtown Redwood City. The event is part of the city's summer series of free outdoor concerts, dance lessons and parties, and film screenings. Go to redwoodcity.org.
