Power outage hits California Avenue area

Early-morning outage knocks out power to 50 customers

An outage knocked out power to about 50 customers in the California Avenue area early this morning, Assistant Director of Utility Operations Dean Batchelor said.

The outage, which affected the 200-400 block of California and several customers on Birch Street and Cambridge Avenue, was first reported at 1:21 a.m., Batchelor said.

The outage was caused by a faulty transformer and power was restored to 35 customers by 6:17 a.m., he said. Power was expected to be restored to the final 15 customers by about 11 a.m., Batchelor said.
