A suspected burglar has been arrested after a Palo Alto resident caught the man allegedly prowling outside his home on the 500 block of Jefferson Drive, between Edgewood Drive and Hamilton Avenue, Friday (July 29) at 10:34 a.m., police Agent Sal Madrigal said.

George Martinez, 35, of Redwood City was arrested for attempted burglary, possessing burglary tools and resisting a police officer.

Police searched the area after the resident reported that a Hispanic man wearing a beige shirt had fled from the scene. Martinez, who fit the suspect description, was spotted on the 2000 block of Channing Avenue near St. Francis Drive. He was apprehended after fleeing from police.

Martinez was booked into the Main Jail in San Jose on an outside warrant, but police declined to discuss why he was wanted.
