Burglars stole an estimated $23,000 worth of computer and digital equipment from Duveneck Elementary School Monday (July 25), Palo Alto police Officer Marianna Villaescusa said Friday.
The burglar or burglars entered the school through a smashed window at 705 Alester St. sometime between 6:30 a.m. and 12:20 p.m. and stole 10 laptop computers, four iPads and 24 iPods. The school is closed for the summer and no suspects have been identified, Villaescusa said.
The burglary is the second at Duveneck in about six weeks. Thieves entered an unlocked window between June 8 and 9 and stole two desktop computers, a laptop, two digital cameras and thumb drives valued at $6,000, according to police.
In a series of other thefts that have hit Palo Alto schools, six digital cameras worth $3,600 in total were taken from a Palo Alto High School classroom during the July 23 weekend.
Two laptops valued at $2,200 in total were taken from a classroom at Gunn High School, between July 21 and 22, according to police.
