■ Music: Brian Andres & The Afro-Cuban Jazz Cartel

As part of the city of Menlo Park's annual free outdoor summer concert series, Brian Andres & The Afro-Cuban Jazz Cartel will play a show of salsa music tomorrow (July 27) from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Audience members often bring picnic dinners to the concerts, which are held in downtown Menlo Park in Fremont Park at University Drive and Santa Cruz Avenue. ■ Author: Howard Markel

Tomorrow (July 27) at 7 p.m. Howard Markel will give an author talk on his book "An Anatomy of Addiction: Sigmund Freud, William Halsted, and the Miracle Drug Cocaine." The event is at Kepler's Books, 1010 El Camino Real, Menlo Park. Audience members must buy a copy of the book or a $10 gift certificate to admit two; bookstore members get in free.
