Police name 'persons of interest' in homicides

Three are wanted in connection with killings of Catherine Fisher and Hugo Chavez

The East Palo Alto Police Department reports that it has identified persons of interest in the recent homicides of Catherine Fisher, 19, of Menlo Park, on July 13, and Hugo Chavez, 26, on July 19.

"The Department believes both murders were committed by member(s) of a violent trio during a crime-spree that spanned from East Palo Alto to Grand Junction, Colorado," the department announced Sunday night, July 24.

The three were identified as Christian Fuentes, 20, Jaime Cardenas, 19, and Fidel Silva, 24, all of East Palo Alto.

The men are also wanted in connection with two robberies, a burglary and a triple shooting and murder in Grand Junction, Colorado, the department said.

Christian Fuentes was arrested last week by the East Palo Alto and Fremont police and is in custody on a parole violation. Both Cardenas and Silva remain at-large and are wanted for the Colorado murder and for questioning in the two East Palo Alto murders, the department said.

Police ask anyone with information about these cases to call the police department's anonymous tip line at 650-853-8477 or leave an anonymous text-a-tip at 650-409-7692.
