■ Music: Stanford Symphony Orchestra

On Saturday (May 28) at 8 p.m., the Stanford Symphony Orchestra will perform a program featuring piano soloist Christine Kim in Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-flat minor, Op. 23. The concert will be in Dinkelspiel Auditorium at Stanford University and will also include Richard Strauss' tone poem "Death and Transfiguration," Op. 24. Admission is $10 general, $9 for seniors, $5 for non-Stanford students and free for Stanford students. Call 650-723-2720 or go to events.stanford.edu.

■ Theater: 'The Tavern'

The George M. Cohan play "The Tavern," which mixes mystery with romance and suspense, is on stage this weekend at Foothill College's Lohman Theatre. Performances are Friday and Saturday (May 27 and 28) at 8 p.m. and Sunday (May 29) at 2 p.m. at 12345 El Monte Road in Los Altos Hills.
