■ Talk: William C. Dement

Tomorrow (May 26) at 7 p.m., famed sleep researcher and Stanford University psychiatry professor William C. Dement gives a free talk called "Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sleep But Were Afraid to Ask." The event is at the Stanford Blood Center, 3373 Hillview Ave., Palo Alto. Topics will include sleep deprivation, narcolepsy, obstructive sleep apnea and Dement's own struggles with insomnia. Call 650-725-2540 or go to events.stanford.edu.

■ Film: 'Inception'

The city of Redwood City presents a free outdoor screening of the 2010 Leonardo DiCaprio sci-fi adventure film "Inception." The showing is tomorrow (May 26) at sundown (about 8:45 p.m.) at Courthouse Square downtown. Audience members often bring blankets and food. Go to redwoodcity.org.
