■ Community: May Fete parade

For the 89th year, Palo Alto is holding its May Fete Children's Parade, with floats, bands and and costumes. The event begins at 10 a.m. Saturday (May 7) at the corner of Emerson Street and University Avenue. The parade will end at Addison Elementary School at 650 Addison Ave. For more information, go to paloaltoonline.com.

■ Music: Stanford Taiko

The Stanford Taiko drumming group performs Saturday (May 7) at 8 p.m. at Stanford University's Dinkelspiel Auditorium. The group is performing in preparation for gigs at the University of California, Los Angeles, and in Maui. Admission is $5-$10. Call 650-725-2787 or go to stanfordtickets.org.

■ Music: Chelle & Friends

On Sunday (May 8) from 3 to 5 p.m., the New Orleans band Chelle & Friends will perform gospel and R&B music. The concert is at Hidden Villa, 26870 Moody Road, Los Altos Hills. Tickets are $15. Go to hiddenvilla.org.

The 33rd Annual Palo Alto Weekly Short Story Contest is now accepting entries for Adult, Young Adult (15-17) and Teen (12-14) categories. Send us your short story (2,500 words or less) and entry form by March 29. First, Second and Third Place prizes awarded in each category.
