■ Lecture: Trimpin

The sound sculptor, inventor and artist Trimpin gives a free talk tonight (May 5) at 7:30 p.m. in the Pigott Theatre at Stanford University. He will speak about his new multimedia work, "The Gurs Zyklus," that he is premiering at Stanford on May 14. The talk is presented by the Aurora Forum and Stanford Lively Arts. ■ Benefit: 'Hear for Japan'

The Mountain View-based Capriccio Chamber Orchestra is performing today (May 5) at 5:30 p.m. in a benefit performance for the Northern Japan Earthquake Relief Fund. The event is at Bloomingdale's in the Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto. The program includes Bach's "Air" from Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D, and the suggested donation is $35.
